August 21, 2019 – Starting this month (August 2019), Fishbowl Press and Fishbowl Press Poetry will feature, monthly, selected individual pieces that we absolutely LOVE. Kicking us off are three beautiful poets with mad skills, Leah Mueller (“Reunion on Sandy Boulevard”), Natalie Illum (“What the brain hemorrhage says”[originally published at Riggwelter Press]), and Tianna Hansen (“blood in the water”).

Leah Mueller is an indie writer and spoken word performer from Tacoma, Washington. She is the author of two chapbooks and four books. Her next two books, Death and Heartbreak and Misguided Behavior, Tales of Poor Life Choices will be published in Autumn, 2019 by Weasel Press and Czykmate Press. Leah’s work appears in Blunderbuss, The Spectacle, Outlook Springs, Atticus Review, Your Impossible Voice, Mockingheart Review, and other publications. She was a featured poet at the 2015 New York Poetry Festival and a runner-up in the 2012 Wergle Flomp humor poetry contest.
Natalie E. Illum is a poet, disability activist and singer living in Washington DC. She the recipient of two fellowship grants from the DC Arts Commission, a former Jenny McKeen Moore fellow, and a former nonfiction editor for The Deaf Poets Society Literary Journal. She is a 2019 Pushcart prize, Best of the Net, and Best New Poet nominee. She was a founded board member of mothertongue, a LGBTQA open mic that lasted 15 years. She has competed on the National Poetry Slam circuit and was the 2013 Beltway Grand Slam Champion. Natalie has an MFA in creative writing from American University. Tianna G. Hansen has been writing her whole life. She recently released her debut poetry collection Undone, Still Whole from APEP Publications, focused on overcoming trauma and reclaiming her body. She has a three-poet collaboration A Victorian Dollhousing Ceremony, a dark fantasy poetic opera about the facets of trauma, releasing this June. Tianna is the founder and editor-in-chief of Rhythm & Bones Press, focused on healing through writing.
